Artist Feature: Brita Photography

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Brittany, and I photograph awesome weddings and people with my husband, Nick. We mainly work in Atlanta, but have big plans to photograph events around the US…and hopefully around the world someday!

We are self-taught photographers! I have been studying photography ever since I discovered a Kodak film camera when I was a kid. I haven’t put a camera down since. But now, I shoot Nikon.

Who are your favorite artists, designers, or fashion icons that have influenced your creative style?
We admire so many great photographers with different styles.  It’s amazing to see a wedding captured through a different photographer’s point of view. It forces you to think about angles and details that you hadn’t thought of yourself…it pushes your limits.

To name a few we love, all for different reasons: Ryan Brenizer, Altmix Photography, Emily Porter Photography, Bobbi + Mike, Jose Villa, Sloan Photography, Caroline + Ben…can we keep going?

Where do you normally find your inspiration?
I find inspiration in people. Every person, couple, and relationship are so unique and beautiful. I try to get to know the people and couple we are working with, and really connect with them. After that, we’re inspired by their personalities to photograph them as they are.

What is your dream project?
We’d love to photograph a wedding abroad… anywhere.

How would you describe your process?
Our process is simple:  We want to ensure that we connect with our couples. It’s so important for Nick and I to connect with the brides and grooms we are photographing. We want them to be comfortable, especially in front of the camera. Our goal is to capture their natural personalities.

We strive to capture all the details, the moments, and the emotions as they unfold naturally in a candid and journalistic style. Our style blends photojournalism with modern portraiture and fine art. You can expect creative, yet timeless images.

What is your favorite fashion possession of the moment?
Not camera related, I’d have to say my Coach purse that I got at the outlet store for $41! And, any platform shoe. I love platform shoes. I can’t walk in high heels, so the platforms really make me feel like I can.

And, of course, camera related – I love my Kelly Moore bag. It holds everything I need and it looks super cute! You can’t even tell it’s a camera bag.

If someone was going to visit your city, what one place would you recommend them to see?

If someone was coming to visit Atlanta, I’d tell them to go to Piedmont Park. I know that sounds a little cliché, however, it’s such a beautiful park and you have the most gorgeous view of the city skyline.
